FAQs

What does an architect do?

Architects design and draw building plans that are required for the construction process. They can also help with restoration, conservation, or renovation projects.

Why do I need an architect?

Architects help ensure that building design is an efficient use of space and is beneficial to its users. They also help to make sure the building adheres to building code and can even recommend builders, engineers, or other necessary parties for the project.

What is the initial meeting and consultation like?

An initial consultation would include an in person meeting with the architect to discuss the overall scope, and idea for the project. It is not an exhaustive meeting and is focused only on understanding the broad strokes of a project to help determine what the best approach would be.

How are your fees and proposals structured?

Typically our proposals are structured in two phases: An initial phase and a more in depth second phase. Phase one is preliminary, typically including initial floor plans and elevations, and is priced as an hourly fee not to exceed an agreed upon amount. Phase two typically includes more developed plans for construction and is priced different per project.

Do you offer additional services?

Yes, including As-Built Drawings, Rendering services, Interior Design, and Project Management.

Can you work to my budget?

Yes, we strive to design within the constraints of client budget and work to not exceed that limit. Project cost does depend heavily on size of the project and selections of materials, so overall cost in comparison to size is something to be discussed early on in the project.
